Cameron Pledges support for Business
Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock has today welcomed David Cameron’s renewed emphasis on growth and enterprise.
Stephen said: “I was delighted that David Cameron used his Spring Conference speech to confirm that not only are we continuing our rescue mission of the economy - dealing with the huge deficit we inherited is the single most important step towards recovery and growth, but that now we'll strive to be the most pro-growth Government in living memory. Over the next few months we will drive forward a programme with one purpose - creating jobs. We'll show we are on the side of enterprising business and enterprising people - and that there are no 'forgotten areas' of the nation when it comes to growth.”
“There's only one strategy for growth; which is to roll up our sleeves and do everything possible to make it easier for people to start a business and grow a business. We know there's an enterprise culture in this country and that we've got the people, the ideas, the talent, the energy to make things great. That's why the Budget in a few weeks time will tear down the barriers to enterprise and be the most pro-growth Budget this country has seen for a generation.”
“It's also why we will introduce new enterprise zones across parts of Britain which have missed out in the last ten years. They will be centres for new businesses and new jobs where taxes will be even lower and more restrictions on growth removed. They will be in places in our land with great potential, but which need that extra push from Government and local communities working together. We will be focusing on how we can redouble our efforts to generate growth and ensure all parts of the country share in our future prosperity.”
