Michael Gove puts Education at heart of Conservative Campaign for Change in Thurrock

Shadow Schools Minister Michael Gove gave his backing to local Conservative candidates Jackie Doyle-Price and Stephen Metcalfe at a dinner in Thurrock last week.

Michael Gove reminded all present of the failures of the present Government, talking of the unprecedented levels of debt incurred under Labour - debt which will take generations to repay.  Michael also talked about an incoming Conservative Government's plans for schools.

Jackie said: "It was great to have Michael here and to hear first hand of his plans for our schools.  Getting our education system right is central to creating opportunities for our young people and giving them the skills they need to create a competitive workforce in Britain in the 21st century.

There are currently over a million young people neither in work, training or full time education.  They are being failed by our education system.

Conservatives are passionate about the agenda to give all young people the opportunity to be the best they can be."

Stephen added: “Education is the foundation for success in life. Ensuring every child and young adult has the opportunity to make the most of their talents and achieve all they can is a top priority for the next Conservative Government. I for one will do all I can to see that children from across Thurrock and South Essex get the best possible chance in life.”
