Hope and Aspiration!
Two word that sum up Thurrock’s view of the future.

Hope and aspiration! Two words that sum up Thurrock’s view of the future.
In a bid to make Thurrock the place for business and to help put 1000 young people on the career ladder, organisations from across Thurrock and the Thames Gateway have joined forces to create an exciting year long programme to help find Britain’s “Next Top Boss: Made in Thurrock”.

The programme, launched the Globe Theatre in London last night, heard how all those with an interest in Thurrock can not only help create a brighter future for our young people, but a brighter future for us all.

Stephen Metcalfe, Prospective Conservative MP for South Basildon & East Thurrock, attended the event and commented afterwards: “This is great, anything we can do to help young people on to the career ladder and to help them realise their full potential has to be welcome. I think this initiative is fantastic and would like to thank all those involved in making this happen; Thurrock Council, the Development Corporation and especially the sponsors.”

“To put Britain back on the road to prosperity we are going to have to create lots of new jobs and make sure our businesses succeed. I believe this programme has an important role to play in helping to motivate our young people and to discover our next generation of Business Managers and Entrepreneurs.”

“Who knows? ‘Next Top Boss: Made in Thurrock’ may well discover the next Alan Sugar or Richard Branson, but if all it does is instil an entrepreneurial spirit, raise aspirations and show that there is no limit to what can be achieved if you believe in yourself, then the programme can be deemed a success.”

“If I am fortunate enough to be elected Member of Parliament next year I will certainly want to support this excellent and important initiative and wish the programme every success.”
